• 3 Easy Ways to Identify a Healthy Juice

It’s important to know that not all fruit juices are the same.

There are various ways fruit juices can be produced and some are damaging to the nutritional content of the natural fruit juice. We have listed a couple of easy ways to help you identify the good from the bad without having to decipher the confusing labels.

    1. A healthy juice should naturally separate

Separation occurs naturally with no additives or preservatives so it’s a really easy way to quickly identify whether a juice is natural or not.

     2. The taste and flavour should not be the same all year round

Fruit naturally tastes different throughout the seasons or from one region to the next. So if the juice has a unique taste to a particular brand that never changes all year round it is not likely to be very natural. The following production process can be used to create that consistency:

    • Once squeezed from the fruit, the juice is stored in giant holding tanks and the oxygen is removed- by removing the oxygen it allows the liquid to keep without spoiling for a year or more giving it a longer shelf life. However, in doing that it also renders the juice flavourless.
    • Fragrance companies are employed create a trade mark taste and these are added as flavour packs into the giant tanks to re-flavour the juice.
    • Leaving you with what is essentially flavoured juice with added sugars, preservatives and flavourings, with no natural health benefits of the original fruit.

We are proud that our Mello melon juices separate and the taste can vary from time to time. It’s because each bottle is unique and defined by nature. It’s 100% raw and natural, evolving with the seasons and the region in which it was sourced.

    3. You will never find a truly natural juice on a supermarket shelf outside of the fridge

Have you ever stopped to think how it’s possible that you can grab a carton from a non-refrigerated shelf and the use by date is 2 years from now; but an orange sitting on a shelf for 2 years would have wrinkled to a moldy relic of its former self?

Some juices can sit out on the shelves without being refrigerated for months, if not years on end because they are likely to have been heat pasteurised to a high temperature, killing the natural nutritional value of the fruit and replacing it with additives and preservatives. There is then nothing natural left in the juice so it can preserve itself for longer periods of time without being chilled.

If you are looking for a healthy juice head to the chilled fridge and look for cold pressed/HPP juices that separate for healthier, more natural alternatives.
